If the capital punishment is abandoned in Pakistan there will be more crimes, further worsening the law and order situation. I must also add that we are sovereign state and have our own laws, so the international community hasn't any right to pressurise us in this regard.

I agree that stats paint a bleak picture.
Sure, Pakistan recently climbed in the ranks of execution race.
But did you know that Pakistan has been high flyer in the ranks of terrorism / lawlessness for years?
I think it is time to give our liberal bleeding hearts a pause for the moment.

A little while ago, we all wanted the government to take stern action and stop killing of children and innocents; Government did its job. But now we want to criticise the government for killing.

For all of the so called human rights activists - I would love your thoughts on the following:
1. You say No to death penalty - OK - so is any one of you ready to suggest or provide any other alternative for capital punishment?
2. You say the spaces they are kept in are inadequate - OK - so are you guys ready to take 2~3 prisoners with you and sign an affidavit that they will not commit any more crimes under your supervision?
3. You say as many as 140 countries have removed the death penalty - OK - What about the rest?
I am absolutely sure none of you activists can answer any of the above - hence the death penalty should remain.

We have our own laws, just like many other countries have capital punishments due to their requirements. You can't rule all the countries with one law, even in the US capital punishment is practiced in some states. When even within one country there can't be one law, how can you expect all countries to abolish it? Capital punishment should stay where the crime rate is high — an eye for an eye!

There are nearly 8000 people on death row. They are terrorists, murderers, killers of family members in the name of honour etc. Will Amnesty International give a convincing argument as to what should the government do and what about the families whose relatives have been killed?

I think all humans are not same. Some communities are more peaceful than other. Abolishment of death penalty will encourage more crimes in Pakistan. It can work in Western and East Asian countries though.

@Qasim I would suggest just stop looking at the West as evil. Every country wants good for itself. Same goes for Pakistan.
