Poor journalism! Under Umer's statement 1, Herald counterarguments Umer's statement by saying that the 'fact' is that "According to news reports publishes in March 2018...". Really? First, where are the links to these sources? Secondly, since when have 'news reports' become 'facts'? Fake media can publish anything. How about official data from World Bank, IMF, or State Bank regarding foreign debt to China?
Nice try. But I still believe in Asad Umar.
Truly shameful for a minister to lie like that.
Don't nit pick. Pakistan is doing very well under PTI. Adad Umar was not far off the mark in his statements.
So basically PTI is back-tracking on its promises and knows too little - even today?
A flawed analysis by a premier newspaper.
Its all about guessing... atleast Mr. Umar was 50% correct in his statement. Problem is debt and not liabillities... if the cost of liability is coverable with revenue, no problem. :)
This report if published in Herald it is a very poor quality of journalism. Ministers statements are being pronounced incorrect and media reports are facts. Shame on the magazine and the journalist who wrote it. the previous government played the media like a fiddle and provided incorrect information, how come that was not checked for accuracy.
Asad Umer hard talk interview was one of the best given by any personality form developing countries. the questions and assumptions put forward are always sensational and intimidating. He handled Stephen Sackur just right. Asad deserves all the praise.
A robbery in a journalist house is not a threat. This fact check needs a fact check !
Dawn will do well if it does some objective analysis. Picking on a 2 month old interview based on “facts” from some “News reports”, makes me wonder the motives of this publication and the scribe.
And how much money did Dawn receive to publish this "Fact" report......can we also have some facts on propagandist journalism please, much awaited. Thanks and Keep it up!
Good article.. this kind of fact check is needed. Shows why the world does not believe in Pakistan's politicians.
Fake finance guy.
@Hasan And by the way from where do these organizations get their data from. It is supplied by our extremely reliable government of Pakistan. I would believe a reputable daily like Dawn more than the government.
@tariq ali Is the PTI government made of angels. Most of PTI senior leadership consists of so called electable a euphemism for what we popularly call lotay in Pakistan..
Hard Talk interview was a white wash since they censored their own interview to suit particular group. This actually raises questions on the whole purpose of the interview.
