Wearing their Santa hats, the children can be seen weaving their way through the leashes of the winter evening; lights dance alongside the roads and decorations peep from railings of apartments. The animated hum of carol singing can be heard from the Church, the services have commenced. Christmas in Pakistan opens itself out to us.
The yearly tradition of midnight Church services, Christmas gatherings, the visits to people’s homes to do carol singing and the Christmas bazaars continues this year in full fervour. Here, the Herald takes a photographic journey through the preparations and merriment seen in cities across Pakistan to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

I wholeheartedly wish everyone a happy Christmas and am so glad to see the Christian community celebrating their religious event with such fervour. This friendly and tolerant atmosphere must continue as it is the need of the hour. Islam advises Muslims to be respectful of all beliefs and to particularly protect the minorities residing in our countries.

Merry Christmas, lovely pictures. I wish the Pakistan government didn't need to place security guards at places of worship and instead the people themselves looked out for each other as they were more tolerant.

Beautiful photographs. May this country one day wake up and work to attain the dream of the Quaid - which was to see persons of all faith live with rights and freedom in the country.

I was especially delighted to see the picture of our Catholic Church, The Sacred Heart Cathedral in Lahore which was built by the Belgium priests nearly a 100 years ago. I was a student at the St Anthony's school for 9 months as a boarder, as my parents lived 900 km away. Every morning we, the 120 boarders,
were woken up, bathed and dressed; our supervisors were Irish Patrician Brothers that ran our 900-strong-student-body school. We would attend H.Mass at the Cathedral which was right next door to our school. The beautiful two story building of the St Anthony's High school in Lahore, Pakistan can be searched on Google . My friends were Christians, Muslims, some Jews and a few from Kenya. We all got along like buddies.
