Given the rising popularity of video-sharing sites such as YouTube and other social media avenues, many artists have opted for the self-reliant route instead of the more traditional means of releasing music. On Monday, December 10, between 8:30 pm and 10:30 pm, the Herald has invited three panelists to discuss whether Pakistan’s fledgling music industry has lost the battle against social media.
Zeeshan Parwez
Parwez is part of the band Sajid and Zeeshan; he has also performed on Coke Studio and has toured with Noori for a series of concerts.
Zoe Viccaji
After three years as a backing vocalist on Coke Studio, Viccaji took centre-stage last year with a lead performance on the show. Her debut single, released earlier this year, garnered critical acclaim.
Talha Wynne
Talha Wynne is part of Karachi’s underground band Orangenoise. The band’s eclectic psychedelic music, shared mostly through social media, has attracted a large fan following.
