The bigger picture

It began as conversations with ‘old people’: grandparents, great-uncles and great-aunts, friends of friends of friends … The idea was to listen to their stories, sidestepped by textbook versions of history — but, this time, with a pen and paper in hand. The photographs that follow and the accompanying memories are a result of these conversations — a more personal sweep over history that may not chronicle the cataclysm that defined the years immediately before and after Partition but provides a smaller, humbler and more unique glimpse into the way we lived then.

  1. I know without reading this article how people live then with out fear of the Taliban and religious extremist. It was no question a secular society our forefathers enjoy. When you give religion a kick it shoots like missile and stray bullets. It was not bad idea to acquire a separate land for the Muslims but if it was remained so and not power came in the hands of some opportunists. Muslims more than Pakistanis in India have become minority number-wise and we Pakistanis became minority in the region economic-wise.
