“Whenever Hasan visited India, he would call me or meet me. He visited my house in 2004 — this was our last meeting, as his health deteriorated after that. Hasan always looked forward to visiting India because he was born here. We spent a long time discussing songs and poetry while enjoying lunch at my house. Our only duet recorded together is Tera Milna from the album Sarhadein in 2009. It is the only duet that features Hasan’s and my voice but, technically, we never sang the song together. The song was composed by Hasan and written by Farhat Shahzad. His portions were recorded inPakistanwhile I sang my parts inIndia. He had selected some five or six compositions which he thought would suit my voice. He wanted to record those songs with me, but his health did not permit him to. To sing with him will always remain one of my unfulfilled wishes.”
